Kurt Schuster

Attorney, Founder Schuster Law

Kurt Schuster began his family law career in 1983 after graduating from Marquette Law School. His philosophy of open, honest communication between attorney and client was developed early on.

“By listening and giving honest advice to clients we create realistic expectations which focuses our clients on achieving a fair resolution of their case.”

While negotiation and mediation provide the best options for equitable settlements, Kurt will fight for his clients when litigation becomes the only way to achieve a positive outcome of their case.

Kurt prides himself on the numerous referrals he’s received from judges, other attorneys and previous clients. In fact, judges have appointed him as Guardian Ad Litem in over 600 cases.

Kurt is an active member of Wisconsin State Bar Association and the Waukesha County Bar Association. He has volunteered at Waukesha County Family Legal Clinic since 2008. Milwaukee Magazine has designated him as a Wisconsin Super Lawyer each year since 2006.

When he’s not working, Kurt enjoys traveling and going to movies with his wife of 34 years. Kurt was an avid runner and completed the 1998 Chicago Marathon. He is now an avid walker as well as an enthusiastic poker and chess player.

Peter Schuster

Attorney

Peter is a 2017 graduate of Marquette Law School and is a current member of both the State Bar of Wisconsin and the Waukesha County Bar. Observing the important work that his father has been doing for so many years has led Peter into the practice of family law and ultimately to join Kurt at Schuster Law.

Peter says,

“I consider myself to be a problem solver which means working diligently to help my clients resolve the legal issues impacting their lives.”

When not helping his clients navigate through their family law issues, Peter enjoys reading, listening to music, watching sports and spending time with friends.

Jessi Gettelman

Paralegal/Office Manager

Jessi has worked with Kurt Schuster since 2013 and joined him at Schuster Law when it was founded in 2020. She developed her interest in family law while studying at UW – Parkside where she had a double major in Criminal Justice and Sociology. After spending 6 years as a general practice law admin she received her Paralegal Certificate from Milwaukee Area Technical College in 2010. She has been a member of the Paralegal Association of Wisconsin since 2013.

Jessi says that her passion and commitment to family law stems from the idea that she is helping people during some of the toughest moments of their lives.

When Jessi’s not working she enjoys playing softball and volleyball and going camping. Most of all she enjoys playing and cuddling with her dogs, Rocky and Gianny. Her favorite quote about life is,

“Integrity is doing the right thing even when no one is watching.”
